Lambretta LI125 Special.
Affectionately known as 'The Tatty Road Runner' or 'Tats'
This has been my every day scooter for nearly 3 years. I've used
it on weekly ride outs, weather permitting as I avoid rain if I can, and
I used to do the post run when ever possible. It also took me down through
France and Switzerland to Italy and back last April without missing a
beat. Carried me (and I'm no lightweight) and all my camping gear with
ease. Sadly after a recent major back operation, the 2nd one I've had, I must stop riding scooters so it has to go.
When I first got this, I stripped it completely, except for the paint
obviously, and rebuilt it as if I was restoring it, using as many of the original parts as
possible. All of the bodywork, badges and tin ware is totally original
with the 'benefit' of a repaint by maybe, Mario or Luigi about 25 years
or so ago in Italy, after they'd consumed far too much vino. He now carries the scars and scrapes from many years of use. But still a very straight scooter.
I fitted a mildly tuned SIL GP200 lump which has proved extremely
reliable. It's a very torquey engine that even when 2 up goes really
well. It also had new cables and loom etc. I put a battery tray on with
battery and charging regulator, which I used for my sat-nav in Europe
although I've now taken the 12v ciggy lighter outlet off that I used. The battery
only powers the twin hooters now, but could be easily used for anything you
want to bolt on. The seat cover is original but most of the clips have gone. Has a leggy spare wheel holder and wheel but the tyre is crap. Ignition, steering and tool box locks aren't original but they have 2 sets of keys each.
Fully registered (as 125cc), has tax until April 2013 and a new MOT until March 2013
Just insure it and go!!
He wont win any shows for his looks but he will get you anywhere you want to go....and home again.
I have the original 125cc engine that was running as sweet as a nut before I took it out. If you want it with the scooter, or if you didn't want the 200cc engine and have the 125cc lump instead, either can be arranged at an agreed price.
Happy to consider offers as it has to go before I'm tempted to ride it and do more damage to my back.
